Mace paused and leaned against a tree. He took a deep breath of the clean air. He loved the forest. He wished he had more time to get away from the base. Things always kept him tied up.
He started jogging again. It felt good to feel teh air blow past him. Why didn't he do this more often? He glanced at the dirt at his feet. He halted. Someone had been there before him. Out of habbit, his eyes scanned the area. The print was fresh. Someone was near by.

[Edward:]
I walked through the forest, mindlessly brushing the tree branches and ferns out of my way. I took another step and landed my foot in mud. Great, now my shoes were even worse than they were before I came here. I sighed and walked until I got to dry ground again, then tried to wipe off as much of the mud as I could without falling over or looking like an idiot. Not that I'd probably meet anyone else out here, but with my luck there'd be a guy staring at me when I turned around.

Mace peered through a thick row of trees. He saw a young man dancing around, trying to wipe off his shoe. "Hello there." He circled a mud pit toward the teen.

[Edward:]
I jumped as someone spoke. "Hi," I said, standing still. I didn't know this guy, but, then again, I didn't know very many people. I wanted to ask who he was, but that might seem rude, so I settled on, "Is there something you needed?" I tried not to sound impolite, but I'm not sure how well that worked.

"No, no. Just kind of surpsied to see someone else out here." Of course, Mace was curious to find out who the teen was---a Murderer or Neutrual? That was the question. "My name's Mace."

[Edward:]
I walked over to Mace, just as surprised as he was. "Yeah; you're the first person I've run into out here," I said. "I'm Edward, by the way." I thought about offering my hand, but reconsidered when I realised how stupid that would seem.

"Yeah. It's peaceful though." He offered his hand. "Nice to meet you, Edward."

[Cujo:]
I shook Mace's outstretched hand, nodding. "Nice to meet you, too."

Mace started walking again. "You live in the city?" Mace gave him a sidelong glance. He looked like a city kid, but you didn't see much of them around the woods.

[Edward:]
"Not in the city, exactly. . . More like underneath it." I followed Mace, not sure if he wanted company or not. I ran my hand through my hair, messing it up even more than it already was.
"So, are you part of the Fifty?"

Mace hesitated for a moment. "Yeah, I'm party of the Fifty. What about you? Neutral?" He watched for a reaction. Depending on the person, being part of the Fifty normally brought up a negative reaction. The joys of being a rebel.

[Edward:]
I nodded. "Yeah." I stuck my hands into my pockets, waiting to see if Mace was going to say anything else. Well, he was part of the Fifty, so I figured I was safe. . .I didn't think he'd attack me. That kind of went against the Fifty's morals or whatever they were called.

"Cool. Anything happening in the city? I don't get out much." He laughed. He was always stuck behind that stupid desk. He had Wolverine and Spine take over for the day, other wise he'd still be there.

[Edward:]
I was surprised at how easily he seemed to accept I wasn't on a side. "Uhm, not much that I've heard of. No huge explosions or anything, anyway." I stuck my hands into my pockets as we walked through the forest, not sure what else I could say. I looked around; there wasn't much out here but trees and dirt, considering it was a forest. It was peaceful, though.

"Good. I'd hate to think I was missing anything." Mace took a deep breath of the clean air. "You work in the city?"
((yeah, sad post, I know XD))
