I haven't been on because, I went to Southern Utah/Arizona/Nevada. See from were I live, we(as in my dad and sister, and of coarse me) Flew up to Phillidelphia, and then to Las Vegas. Where we met up withs some family friends from CA. So their dogs, Sage and Tycho((Teecko)) came with us to...Paria Canyon, in the Vermillion Cliff Park/Monument. Were we all went back packing in...Buckskin Gulch, a slot canyon, the longest in the world. The first day was brutal, we were hiking mostly in ankle deep freezing cold water, were some places it was up to my chest! When the water was that high, one of the adults carried me and my sister's packs across the water. I nearly twisted my ankles more than once. After all that we camped on a big flatish rock. Dad got sick in the morning, so our friends from CA went scouting to see if we were where we thought we where, which was near the end of Bucksking Gulch. Me and my sister stayed back to take care of Dad. Well...we weren't where we thought we where. We had only hiked 6 1/2 miles, just about 6 1/2 short of our goal. Dad was feeling better and we decided to hike the remaining miles to the official camp site. We made it the and set up camp, all very very sore. After all we had just scaled down a 20 ft. boulder jam, with ropes of coarse, and getting the dogs down was somewhat trumatic. Tyhco came first as he was the smallest dog, an elderly Whippet, then Sage a German Shepard/Greyhound/Water Dog? mix.
We weren't going to make it to Lee's Ferry, were we had planned early, as Dad had got sick earlier. We where now on our 3rd day out in the wilderness. we headed out for White House, our alternative route. Our friends from CA went ahead to see if they could get the cars along with their dogs. So that was the last Dad, sister, and me saw of them for another few hours.((Which tells ya how slow me and my sister are, Dad had to wait for us alot, or else he would have been with them.)) We by then were out of the slot canyon and into the Paria Canyon. It was boiling hot, and we are sluggin on with 30-40 pounds of stuff, Dad was carrying around 60-70 pounds of stuff. It felt like hours, and it was around 3 or 4 hourse by the time we made it out. Our friends who had went ahead, hadn't got the cars, but had seen if they could get a ride, and they did.
We camped there at the White House Campsite, in the morning one of our CA friends left early in the morning with her dog Tycho, she was on call on Monday((She is a Docter)) and needed to get back early. So our other friend and us, and Sage went to Coral Pink Sand Dunes, to camp that night, by then it was later in the evening. There were ATV's every where, but luckliy there were quiet hours and they couldn't run the 4-wheelers and RV's all night. In the morning we visited the protected place of the Dunes were ATV's can't go, and we found a spot, and me and Dad buried my sister up to her neck in sand, then it was my turn. I ended up with sand in my ears, hair, and underpants.
That night we went to a place in Nevada, I can't spell the place it was like Mesquite? And we had dinner there in a Casino. Dad played one game and got $1. 50 off of a slot machine, after playing once. There were showers there, and I finally got to take one in over 6 days. In the morning it was time to leave, and go to Las Vegas. We took out time getting there though. We visited Fire Vally(sp) State(?) Park, and took a 20 min. hike. Next we went to another place that I don't know the name of, and saw petro glyphs, but not like the ones in Buckskin Gulch. We then went to the visitor's center there, I stayed in the car for that one, but Dad said there was a man((a proffesional)), trying to a Sidewinder or Rattlesnake. We had to be on our way, but we stopped at the Hoover Dam, then on to Las Vegas. When we got there our friend from CA dropped us off and headed back to CA((with her dog)), as she had to teach to next morning. We waited for the plane mostly at a Burger King in the airport, were we played cards, and drank refillable sodas. The plane left at 10: 44 roughly, and we got into Phillidelphia around 6 where we waited for our next flight. When we got off of that flight we drove home.
And I'll see if I can get some pictures of my trip up on this site, cause it was truely amazing, even though I couldn't stand that much red in one place. I like the East better than the West, but thats just my oppion.
